Our Best New Business Awards will celebrate a new business which demonstrates innovation, creative and strategic thinking. To be eligible, the business must have an ABN and be less than two years old (this includes ALL business activity, including changes to business structures or entities).
Finalist Details
Based in Sydney, Co-Hive is a vibrant hub which empowers young people with disability to lead independent lives through tailored programs and open employment pathways. Their innovative, co-designed programs support the transition from school to adult life through transformative community collaborations and open employment pathways.
Programs on offer include Finance Matters, Co-Eats, Getaways, Travel Training and Individualised Living Options support. Their programs help participants upskill and explore new interests, including cooking, Script to Screen and Animal Foundations. To improve confidence and develop social skills, they offer Drama Dynamics, social meetings and Get Active sessions. Co-Hive focuses on developing employment skills and gaining employment through their School Leavers Employment Supports, Get Work Ready, weekly work experience and customised employment leading to paid internships and award wage employment.
This year, their website has attracted over 3,800 unique visitors, demonstrating their growing impact. Co-Hive's first semester with 51 weekly participants achieved a 100% re-enrolment rate demonstrates a winning formula. As one participant shared: "Co-Hive has changed my life. The support and opportunities have built my confidence and opened doors I never thought possible".
